Ok here is what you do. Find a good but not so expensive boat mechanic. After the next major storm go to all the marina`s in your area. Ask around to see what boats got damaged. Many insurance companies will write off boats that are not that badly damaged at all. Find out from the own which insurance they carry. Call the insurance company and offer to buy it off them. Usually you pay about 30% of the market cost. Usually the damage can be fixed for not too much. After all is said and done you should be able to buy a boat for 50% of the fair market value ! So it takes a little legwork but deals are available for those who look and work a little.

I have learned over the years that a boat that is sitting in a yard unused can often times be bought very cheap simply cause the current owner is unwilling or unable to fix the boat. I prefer to cut the acrylic or perspex windows slightly over-sized, mask them off and bed them down with Sikaflex or Arbokol and Stainless Dome Headed or countersunk screws. More of a professional finish cheaper and easier to replace or maintain.
