As for the nursing comment, if you have only worked in one or two fields you MOST LIKELY are not going to be hired into a field you have no experience in. Which leaves one jobless!!! Very bold to make a blanket statement or question a persons WANT to work.

 Someone said: There are alot of nursing position open in alot of states so if you are in that profession of course it will be easy for you to be hired. To be receiving unemployment benefits there  isn't any joy from it, it to pay your bills and keep a roof over your head. So for anyone to say that people who are receiving these benefits are lazy or don't want to work are just out of there mind. Do you think we want to stay home and depend on unemployment benefits? I have over 16 years of corporate experience,I have send out over 100 emails, have gone to agencies along with everyone else who is unemployed. I am tired of hearing of you are over qualified, or you made too much money in the past, and when I tell them I am willing to take a cut and get my foot in the door, I am told no we don't want you to get discourage and leave, but thanks for applying for the job. What are suppose too do. I am tired of people saying that people who are receiving benefits are lazy or don't want to work. Are you serious? I hope and pray that you are never in our shoes. For the nurse who is not so bright, why would i applied for a nursing job when i don't have the background or the qualifications. Another thing, I have worked all my life until my company went under. I have pay my taxes and still do receiving unemployment benefits!

I personally am ashamed of this country know and am seriously thinking of relocating to another country and yes I was born here.

As for the professional nurse... there are plenty of nursing jobs every where. Maybe your not looking hard enough or dnt really want a job. . Nursing is versitle and dynamic with many variations of the field. I get job offers from across the states daily. Maybe it is not in the field you started in, or the hours may be different but there are nursing jobs.

To all the idiots who think someone is "lazy" or "too comfortable with all the handouts", guess again! I exhausted my 99 weeks back in April, despite the fact that I busted my hump daily looking gor work. I sent out scads of resumes and filled out countless applications, and considered myself damn lucky to get the occasional interview. I was down to my last $100 and was on the verge of being forced to apply for welfare when I finally got lucky and snagged a job in sales. I`m making considerably less than I did before, but at least it`s an income. You morons need to realize that there`s approximately 5 unemployed workers for every job out there, which leaves a whole bunch of people out in the cold and desperate to find a way to keep a roof over their heads and feed their families. You jackasses should be ashamed of yourselves!

ALL Unemployed need new Tier 5 or Tier 5,6 for one additional year. Congress knows this for awhile. Along with this millions of people have exhausted benefits or been throwed off with deadlines. We Need a Bill with only one deadline the end of the length of the bill. The deadlines got new unemployed kick off before they were in it. We ned a additional long term recovery extention FOR ALL Unemployed . Period! Government caused this issue with dealys, blocks , deadlines in an economy that has not picked up in jobs only false numbers to show for it it is time to do what is moraly right now report correct jobless rates and extend benefits.

Someone said: Plenty of part time, no benefit, minimum wage jobs created for 16 year old teenagers.. Tell me Hunter, do you understand what a mortgage is? Do you understand what it takes to survive out there? Rent, mortgage, food, insurance, gas, electric bills, etc cost money. Part time Minimum wage jobs are great If your already being taken care of by someone else. Kids with these jobs can't complain because they don't have any RESPONSIBILITIES! We who are educated, who made at least 15-25 dollars an hour at our previous position just can't settle for a 20 hour a week part time 8 dollar an hour job with no benefits. We won't survive! This is one reason why the unemployment rate is still very high. Yes there are plenty of kiddy jobs out there, but most of us are waaaay over qualified for those positions and taking those jobs will make us worse off than we already are.

Lets say tomorrow I took a 8 dollar an hour 20 hour a week job at walmart.. And the following week the president passed the tier 5 extended benefit bill for 20 weeks. Well, the 240 dollars I'm making at my great new minimum wage job will mean I'd be losing out on almost 600 dollars because I panicked AND SETTLED FOR A KIDDY JOB WAAAY BENEATH ME AND MY ABILITIES. Now, I'm really screwed!

This is why were not working those jobs created for teenagers and college students! NO ONE can survive on 20 hour a week minimum wage jobs, NO ONE. If you don't realize this, then you shouldn't be posting asinine comments like this.. I'm one of the 99ers and been looking for a job now for the past 2years. i went to apply for one job and when i went there I ran into 2000 Pepole trying to get one job.WOW i fill out 3 Apps a day on the internet and dont get any call backs.WE NEED THE TIER 5 TO BE PAST.. I find it interesting that those who are against extension of UC benefits for the 99er`s never say anything about our government continuing to hand out free benefits to those who choose not to work or have never worked. The welfare handouts aren`t mentioned. Why don`t they cut welfare benefits and give that money to those of us who have worked many years and paid into UC?

It is very funny to hear people who have jobs saying how easy is to find employment. You have absolutely no idea how hard it is to find work once you have lost your job. So many people I know are trying so hard to find work..any work..so they can support their family. They have gone through most or all of their savings, have tapped into their retirement money, and have maxed out their credit cards. The 99ers are the ones that have been hit the hardest - the longest out of work and very little money left to support themselves..These people need help and the United States Government should be supplying it!

To the man with the 5 kids,who are you to be so self righteous that you can say long term unemployed are milking the system. I know educated people with skills who lost their good paying jobs. I personally don`t know how you can make it with 5 kids and on minimum wage; but I think maybe you should consider going back to college or learn a trade or skill that could help you get a better job and maybe take the kids on a trip to Florida one day. I believe you have no right to judge other American unemployed people who have worked and payed in to the unemployment benefits and they are entitled to those benefits. I could never be happy with your life struggling all the time and I ask when do you find quality time to spend with the kids when you had a job because you must have had at least 3or 4 minimum wage jobs to keep yourself going. Do your self a great favor and go back to school and learn a decent trade that you can be proud of.

To the guy with 5 kids... I have been unemployed for over a year now. And it is not for lack of trying. I WILL even take a min wage job. I have applied to many of them. But it seems that the teeagers in my area having their new cars and all their junk is more important to these employers than my being able to feed my children. I have 3 kids (1 with me, 2 with father). I draw 185.00 a wk in UI. And i pay 67.00 a week in child support. And my husband and i am about to be homeless if they do not approve the T5 extension. I went from making over 400.00 a week, to 116, after taxs and support. You continue to live off of Min wage. I would if i could find a job.

However, what the vast majority of unemployed men and women want is a job. People complain of seeing help wanted signs and knowing of companies that are hiring, but the number of people looking for work compared to job openings isn`t even comparable. The biggest problem i see in my area is that people wont even apply for a job unless its pay is more then they make on unemployment the usual reasons are that "i cant live off that" well let me tell you something i am a father of 5 kids and the only one to have worked in our house we have always been able to make it on next to nothing wages the most i have ever been paid is $12/hour 36 hours a week i can live off minimum wages now that they are over $7/h and i have 5 kids i am buying a home (not in a trailor park) with land and yes i dont have money to take trips and go out to eat much but we make it i have recantly lost my job and am collecting unemployment i have done work here and there but have not found a permanent job yet the people around me complaing that there is no work when i see adds in the paper for this and that i have enrolled in a temp agency to help me find something when i sugest this to them they just tell me well i cant live off that (most of them are single or just have 1 kid) and i think wow what are your "standerds" for living as a father i would do what ever is nessary to make sure my family have a roof over there head and food to eat we may not live the life of a king but we live happily ilets face it the high paying jobs are not here and wont be for a long time people should lower there standerds and rethink there meaning of "making a living" or they will never make it those that were blessed with a high paying job got use to it and spent it accordingly well what they didnt thin of was what would happen if i lost this job that to me is just a form of poor planning what we as a contry have learned is that there is no such thing as a stable job hopefully as things get better this will be a lesson not forgoten anyway all im saying is any good parent will do what it takes to ensure that there family has what is needed (ps3 60" tvs sprorts cars and fancy things are not needed) yes its nice to have extras but they arent needed i think anyone that has been unemployed from work for more then a year is milking the system and are just beeing lazy if i can make it on minimun wage with 5 kids those single and small families should be able to.

A LETTER I EMAILED CONGRESS!..."a few people have contacted Reids office and they were all told that Reid is working on a Tier 5 extension but they don`t know when it will go to congress. Someone else called Pelosi`s office and they were told there is no more extensions (tier 5) because not enough people are complaining about it".... Are you serious????????? This is what is being said. you say we`re not complaining enough. It`s probably due to the fact that no one has the means to complain. How many people now still have the internet to email, or the extra money to buy a stamp. Now everyone is squeezing pennies. But why should we have to complain? You know what`s going on out there. People like me can`t get anymore unemployment even though we`re dong everything that we can to assist the situation. I am currently enrolled in Southern Technical College pursuing my degree in Medical Billing and Coding. I would like to continue this, but I don`t want to be homeless because my unemployment benefits run out before I find a job. Is it that you don`t think we really need the money? We are doing our best to make ends meet and it`s hard. We have children that have to have electricity in these changing temperatures in Florida. If it wasn`t for my son, I wouldn`t mind being homeless until i got up on my feet, but someone should help the people because we are the ones raising the children that will one day pass bills on healthcare and unemployment compensation issues to take care of your generation.

I am very dissappointed in what I have witnessed with the "Leaders" of this country. How can you bail out banks from their debt and give them money to operate and make a profit and leave the millions, and millions of citizens with debt they created not by their own chosing. How could they not make the same effort in bailing out citizens and providing them enought money to live off of seeing that jobs are almost impossible to come by in this economy. I do not plan on participating in the voting process because I now see that it does not matter who`s in office the citizens will be used as ponds in a political power struggle. Forget the naming of extensions, we need unemployment until The united States brings jobs back to America. We the people did not cause the destruction of jobs here, the government did. So it`s their responsibility to support those of us who have been affected by it until we are able to get back on our feet, no matter how long it takes. While hundreds of thousands lose benefits each week, the Senate seems to draw a fiscal line in the sand over unemployment benefits! Two unfunded wars, generous bank and corporate bailouts, and unfunded tax breaks are not a problem for Congress, but once you get unemployment funding in the mix then all kinds of fiscal responsibility come to bear.The Bush tax cuts are the biggest deficit busters and they were passed overwhelmingly by the Republicans (and many Democrats) who are complaining about unemployment funding.

As someone that used to be HIGHLY sought out for employment, I definitely take offense to the lazy comments. I`ve been unemployed for a year come May. Not only am I seeking out work, I threw myself back in school to learn a new trade so I could broaden my horizons a bit. You cannot make assumptions about people and their work ethics. I know of several people that attempted to apply at places like Starbucks, McDonalds, aka anywhere with a "now hiring" sign, but were turned down due to being "overqualified". Not to mention for every one job you have roughly 100 people applying for it. I think its time to put the ignorance and name calling to rest. I know I dont want to be unemployed and I`m always out looking for work, just as many others that I`ve encountered are doing. In order to get a job, there has to be jobs.

First of all for all you disrespectful people out there, stop putting people down because they are receiving UI benefits. You don`t know what the circumstance are when dealing with employers who don`t want to hire people. I am a college graduate with a Masters degree and I too have not found a job. I have applied for many jobs since 2008 and still have not gotten a job. We need tier 5. It is not our fault that the economy is the way that it is. And most importantly we are not lazy.

I have been umeployed for 2 years now...I really need tier 5 to go through....every day I am looking applying....everything....if u look at my inbox the submissions are ridicoulous and I never get a call nor email about a job.....I went and applied to shoprite they didnt even call....I am stressed out single mother 1 child....so far no car no place to live....living with relatives because I lost my apt.....it is really bad....I cant even do anything for my daughter it is really sad....we really need this extension.....please help I am getting on phones emails faxes hopefully they will listennn...

For those of you who are saying that 99 weeks is enough. FYI, I have only received 18 weeks, enrolled in school to try to enhance my skills. All the while, I have been searching for a job to no avail. I`ve worked all of my life and have never depended on the government. But I betcha, when you get paid every week, you`re gonna bay those taxes that I`ve paid into the system for more than 30 years. Trust me when I say that I don`t want a damn thing from the government that I have not earned and hope all of those that are fortunate to still have job, I pray that it stays that way.

I took a less than "perfect" job because I am not lazy and was once again laid off because this company could not afford to keep me on. Thank God for my unemployment benefits. This economic mess is not our fault- maybe wallstreet. Trust me, we want to work! You apparently hate your job and are just jealous that you haven`t been laid-off yet so you can collect unemployment because you are an uneducated IDIOT!!!

I have a Bachelors, an MBA, have been unemployed for 18 months and job hunting for 30 months, and I'm registered with an employment agency that told me when I called about a job to not call back, "we'll call you". I have been looking for secretarial work for over a year since I can't find anything in my field. Guess what, I'm over-qualified for the available positions and the jobs I am qualified for aren't out there. All people that are long-term unemployed aren't lazy and trying to work the system. I applied for 17 jobs in just the last 4 days. God help you if you ever find yourself jobless during a severe economic dive.

I just spoke to Harry Reid office and official told me that, he has no plan in future extension for tier 4 or tier 5. It is really very bad news for all of us. I am sending more than 100 resume every day. But it was not work out. So please we should every body more contact with lawmakers and speak out. Otherwise we are getting big problem very soon. More than Millions of people are going to homeless and without food.
