What causes my legs to feel tight? I am going to a meeting in a few weeks and I need the answer before then. I just can`t seem to find this information.

If you have mentioned this to your doctor and there are no medical problems that would cause your legs to feel tight , then I would suggest making sure that you are stretching at the end of each workout. You may want to try adding a short stretch program to your workout schedule. Look at the Karen Voight Pure & Simple Stretch program, item #7275. There is also a program designed specifically for knees, but shows how to care for your legs through stretching and strengthening. It is The Strong Knees Workout #5706. Yoga, also offers good flexibility and elongation exercises. What causes my legs to feel tight. Before I go ahead, is there any pointers you might have. Would you consider giving me a couple pointers.

Jerod -. To be honest with you, there could be a million and one reasons why your legs are tight. You could just need some stretching, it could be a bike fit issue, a run technique issue or perhaps something even more complicated. At the end of the day you really need someone to take a look at you as an eval to make sure you are okay and that this tightness is nothing more than normal . If you are a diabetic, it is called neuropathy, or if you have back problems, you nerves can be causing the symptoms. I have the same problems, and I am a diabetic and I also have lower and upper back problems. You need to see a specialist for your feet, back and/or if you have diabeties. I am not getting better. I have to go back and find a good doctor who know what they are talking about.

I`m 17 and Im overweight ...but every time I want to start running or jogging for some reason my legs fall asleep, i cant feel them and I need to stop because I feel like im going to fall or something...do you know why this happens I`ve been trying to ignore it becuase I dont what this to be an excuse ...can you tell me why this is happening ?

you need a break from running probably a few days off should do it, and in the future try not to overwork yourself as much. after finishing cross country everyones muscles end up being sore and will take a week or so to fully recover from. i remember when i finished a season my calves hurt when i touched them for a week. its nothing to worry about and should go away in a few days/week, try walking for a few minutes and then do a stretch for your legs, ice can help take down swelling (if there is any) good luck with getting better

just in the past 2 weeks i starting having pain in both of my butt cheeks and also the back of both of my legs all the way down to the back of my knees.the pain in my butt cheeks from a 1to 10 is around a 8 at times and the back of my legs feel like my muscles are tight. when i am setting down or laying down it does not hurt.but when i get up i have the pain, but not all the time. after i walk around for about 30 minutes the pain goes away and the back of my legs feels like the muscle have loosen up.i do alot of walking at work and climping stairs. i also set at times but not for long to type up my report for the day. i do have inflammatoty arthritis in my lower back,but it has not bother me as much in the last 2 weeks for some reason

well, i honestly dont know anything about arthritis but this does sounds like a case of tight hamstrings! A lot of guys have tight hamstrings. I am a figure skater and am very flexible but once im off the ice and my muscles have cooled, my hamstrings are very very tight. Here is my suggestion. Every morning, afternoon, and evening walk around until your muscles "loosen up"; or warm up, then STRETCH. Try this out for a week or two everyday and see if there is a difference, also try massaging it along with the stretching. This sounds like muscle pain you would get from a lot of fast paced walking or stair climbing...

Did you just start zoloft? Depending on how long you have taken it depends on how long to get out of your system 2-3 weeks about. If you need to take it I suggest speaking with your doctor about another type of antidepressent. Zoloft has bad side effects and is not commonly used anymore. I would ask your doctor about effexor or an alternate medication

i work out regularly, stretch. i've been preparing for a long run (13 mi). sometimes my legs just feel like i can't pick them up. i've noticed i've been pounding (my feet on the ground) a bit when i run.

How flexible are you? Hip and lumbar alignment have an impact on your bodymechanics while your running. If your not aligned correctly, your body isn't using itself efficiently and could cause muscle fatigue. The more flexible you are, the easier your body can take shock from impact while running. Do you have enough support in your shoes?

Q. How do i avoid this tight cramping feeling in my legs and feet when i power walk?
for exercise i walk quickly around a track for about half an hour. it is a really good work out, but i get very discouraged from doing it because my legs feel really tight around the calves and my feet start to hurt and cramp. any suggestions on how to prevent this from happening?

The article I read also said that when our muscles are "shocked" or worked up too suddenly, then they are not getting enough oxygen, causing them to tighten up. Or the case may be that your routine is too strenuous, and your body needs a longer period of time to get used to exercise before doing anything too rigorous.
