Have any university of phoenix students received their expected additional (up to 200%) pell grant money for 2009-2010 or their 2010-2011 disbursement?

I just got a letter today (10/16/10) stating that I am being awarded my pell grant. The disbursement dates for both halves of the grant are on 10/18/10. I have been a student for a year now and this was the first time I have had a problem. I am hoping this is a sign that UOP has started to catch up on the grants.

Good, I`m not the only one. I havent even been told how much money I will be getting for my pell grants for the 2010-2011 school year and it is already sept. I normally get the award letter in early July and get the disbursment towards the end of July. Now it is Sept, and I havent even got the letter.

anonymous said: I am in the same boat as the rest of you, I still have not received and notification of when and how long the Apoolo group will take to send out disbursements. It is now oct. 5th and I talked to my counselor two days ago and he said that they were in the ceritfication process and does not have a clue on when they are to disburse pell grants to the students. I was expecting a check from them back in september and three days ago I received a check for $27.00. I was very upset so I called my counselor and he explained things a little clearer, but still did not verify when I will be receiving the disbursement....

I have been getting excuse after excuse. So the last I heard is that it wil be a few weeks for it to get here. So did they just totally skip a disbursment? are we going to get the amount for both disbursments? Or are just going to forget about it?? I think their needs to be a class action law suit!!!! anonymous said: There is no way that you can compare the processing timelines. Of such a large school with those of small schools. Being as large and as successful as they are I would assume everything is within federal regulations. Look at how often they are in the press. You think they are going to risk it all by not giving you federal funds? What would be their gain?

If the peso gets stronger, the philippine economy will suffer greatly. in spite of popular or should we say nationalist belief, stronger peso does not mean anything better for the Country. Just think for a second, many tens of millions of philippinos get dollars from relatives from overseas, not to mention the 1 million plus foreigners living here and receive their pensions, investment portfoliosetc in u.s. dollars or other hard currency / which the peso is NOT / Less peso for 1 dollar = less money these people spend = less goods and services purchased = WORSE ENCONOMY. rEALISTIC RATE = $1 - 50 PESOS

"I think it`s further away than i`d personally predicted..."



I`ve moved my savings from ACuro into £stg in the last 12 months, taking advantage of the falling £. I was hoping for some signs of a recovery, but in truth, I think it`s further away than I`d personally predicted. The high point I`m expecting will be in the 24 hours immediately the general election, whenever it may be. After that, a slide back. I think it`ll be a long time (at least a year?) until the £ gets up to, say AC1.35, though I do think it`ll eventually happen.

the american dollar is more stronger than the canadian dollar nowadays. 1 american dollar is approximately equal to 1.04 canadian dollars which makes the american dollar stronger and stable as compared to the canadian dollar. they both go very close and there is less difference between the two currencies (sidq1_arqam)

Someone said: I read a reply from someone who was definitely American and kept the dollar comparison as something personal, not financial. As a Canadian economics and finance grad from the 80,s I'll give you my opinion. Our ( Canadian Dollar ) is now on the stock market and banking institutions worth more than the American dollar. This is something that has not happened since the Trudeau years in the 70's. Enjoy it now, it will last while, but not long. The turmoil worldwide, middle east has made investors nervous and thus the American dollar has dropped in value worldwide recently. This trend in my opinion will not last. The arab world within the next few years will change and America will go through an election and will have another mandate, although their current once I agree with much. We, as Canadians enjoy health care without payment. We can have our heart sugery without losing our house. We can go to the hospital at any time for anything. No money, just our health card as Canadian citizens. Does it cost us? Yes, we have high tax rates, althoug we all do get old an all get ill in our lifetimes. No worrying about our assets makes this a very fair tradeoff. In regards to the US dollar. This is the time to buy US dollars from any currency. You will get more American dollars than you would have for a long time. It is time, in my opinion to stash away some American currency. It will rise withing the next few years and you will see gains, much more than the measy 1 or 2 per cent interest rates on general population bank accounts. Dive in now for American currency. You cannot lose...This is a blip in the decades trend. You will make money if you can keep it stashed for a few years.
