Yes, B/P fluctuates. It is different with eveyone as to how much. Both of the readings that you give are well within the "normal" range. You should worry if your top number gets below 90 or above 150 and you don't want your bottom number to get above 100 or so. You should keep a log for a few weeks so that you can find out what your " normal "; ranges are so that you will know if it is getting too high or too low.

Your blood pressure (bp) is fine! 120/80 is the average adult bp. Don't worry about the changes. Changes in your posture can have an impact on your bp i.e. standing up for example. Smoking, alcohol and eating all have an impact. As I'm sure you eat and may also smoke your fluctuations are quite normal. If you're bp is consistently measured around 100/60 or 140/100 then this is the time to consult your GP however anything in between is fine and will fluctuate many times a day. On another note don't become one of these people obsessed with your bp by constantly checking it. Next thing you know you'll have a bowel chart!

i am 74 years old, mildly overweight, don't smoke or drink, eat extremely healthfully, get sufficient restful sleep, take no medications, am always busy reading, studying, etc. i know i have the "white coat syndrome" because my blood pressure goes over 180/95+ in the doctor's office, so i got a portable blood pressure machine that has a wrist cuff and take my pressure eight or ten times a day. it can be anywhere from 185/95 to 132/75 and is never ever constant. i have tried breathing exercises which seem helpful. i do not want to take any medicines. i tried going off caffeine and salt for a couple of weeks, but that doesn't matter---still fluctuates wildly. i would otherwise consider myself in very good health.

First, don't take your blood pressure so many times in a day. You are going to stress yourself out about it. At the doctors office, like you know, it is natural to have your BP go up. Many doctors will even tell you this. It is good that you got the machine for home, but try to limit yourself to 2 times a day (morning and evening). Like they say when weighing yourself, try to do it at the same time each day. Your level of activity may have something to do with the fluctuation as well. The breathing exercises are good, regardless of BP issues. trying to cut out the caffeine and salt are also good. You might try getting a little more active. Reading and studying all the time are great, but you need to get some more exercise.

Your blood pressure can fluctuate during your donation, which should not take more than 10 minutes. If you're healthy (and you will be screened to make sure of this), it shouldn't pose any risks. The most common fluctuation during donation is a decrease in blood pressure. Your body realizes you are losing blood and will drop your blood pressure slightly to slow the bleeding. Blood pressure can fluctuate normally during the day; for example, when you sit down and stand up, your blood pressure can lose or gain as much as 20 points (normal blood pressure is 120/80 ). You are lying down when you donate blood, which makes your blood pressure more stable. You will also be watched by the phlebotomist to make sure there are no problems. Thank you for thinking about donating blood! You may be saving someone's life. I have been donating platelets for over 20 years now.

It certainly could - a lot of variables though. Neither of these blood pressure readings is considered a problem usually. Do you take medication for blood pressure? Do you take it in the morning? Do you take a diuretic (a pill that makes you urinate more often)? Are you checking your blood pressure at home yourself? Just eating salty food can increase it for some people - or being stressed or pain. Many emergency departments will check your blood pressure for free - just ask the triage nurse located near the waiting room of the ER when you see she isn't seeing other patients. Are you feeling badly in the evenings when it is higher (dizzy, headache, nausea, weak)? If your weight and general health are good and you feel okay, as an ER nurse myself, I would not consider your pressure changes to be significant. Always best to check with your doc though. Even then, a good doctor won't put anyone of daily meds over just one blood pressure reading. They try to get a pattern by having you get it taken several different times over a few days. PS 130/80 might be considered a bit high for a pregnant woman, but not for other adults.

What are your actual readings? Blood pressure naturally fluctuates throughout the day, this is completely normal. If your blood pressure is very high then see your GP, he will do 24 hour BP monitoring again and maybe adjust your medication if your current regime isn't managing your hypertension.

25 yr old female. my normal bp runs 115/75 to 120/80. however i find a normally once to twice a month, always in the evening, it seems to go up, normally around 130/90, but sometimes up to 140/95. it always goes back down to normal, normally within an hour, but 2-3 hours tops. is this normal? is it anything i should be concerned about? i have noticed that this only started after i got my mirena iud. anyone?

I think you better get rid of IUD, further episodes will not occur OK.
