Ok, this really depends on what state your in, however I know for a fact that in the state of Georgia a minor in possession, or underage drinking can be expunged from your record almost immediately after your probation ends. This sometimes requires the help of a lawyer but anyways what you do is go to the city you got you your mip in and talk to someone at the police station. Ask for your record to be expunged. The officer will then make you fill out multiple papers that are needed to complete the process. once done with this the officer will then send your papers to the state office were they will decide whether or not to wipe your record. in most cases since a minor in poccession is such a frequent offense especially for college kids they almost always agree to wipe it. During this process you may have to pay a fee depending on what state your in to get it off your record. the entire process can sometimes take up to a month depending on how backed up they are. Not sure about Texas specifically. In most states, once the lien is filed, it will stay active for 7 years (typically). However, nothing keeps the state from re-filing every 7 years; thus, re-setting the clock so to speak. About the only way to clear a tax lien is to pay up.

Hello Nadiya. There are some well meaning answers here, but if you were given a court date and did not appear, you had a warrant of arrest issued on that day. Warrants do not expire or go away once entered into the system. Do not walk into the police station as someone else advised. They will have no choice but to arrest you on the outstanding warrant. You cannot expunge a warrant nor can you expunge a charge that has been levied but never tried. Best you can do at this point is try to resolve the issue. Best advice is to have an initial consultation with a lawyer. When you call on the phone, make sure he is not charging you for the initial consultation. (Most are free, but ask to make sure). Depending on your state, it is entirely possible that he can negotiate the entire issue without your having to be arrested and get the fine adjusted so you can pay it and have it all behind you. To your last question, yes, even misdemeanor files will stay on record complete with fingerprints. In 1992, while working for the Sheriff's Department, a man was stopped for speeding. He had an outstanding speeder from 1981 ( eleven years earlier) that he never went to court for. He literally drove around for 11 years without being stopped ( this was in the days before everything was cross referenced with tags and licenses). He was arrested and brought in for a ticket that would have cost him $20 in 1981. With towing, impound, late fees and court costs, it cost him over $1200 in 1992. Needless to say, he did not have legal representation to help negotiate this. PS.....Don't feel bad about stealing food for a hungry baby. We all will do what we have to do.
